Kiss and Cookie's Splash Pad Adventures
Kiss and Cookie went to a local water park today!
Kiss mostly kept out of the water and "kept a watchful eye" on Cookie.

Although it isn't always apparent, Kiss is actually a bit shy in new environments. Truth be told, she thought the splash pad was a bit of a crazy and scary place. Mostly she just people-watched with Miss N.

Cookie, on the other hand, had a great time and spent 2-hours out in the surf and spray!

Do we really have to go?

Yes, time to go, but in the words of "the Governator":
We'll be back!

STOP THE PRESSES!!!

Kiss made the cover of the newspaper this morning!
"Elmer" is actually "Runway," a 16-year-old American miniature horse. "Runway" volunteers with a nonprofit organization that uses temperament trained animals for educational, rehabilitative and emotional assistance purposes.
Copies are being laminated as we speak!

Petting Zoo Madness!
Miss N (AKA SNv2.0) took Kiss and Cookie out for a petting zoo adventure!

Here are some snapshots of them strolling about and meeting some new friends.

Cookie really liked the look of this nice puppy and asked him to come out and play!
Who can say no to Cookie?

That's right no one!
Kiss made some new friends, too. Here's a picture of Kiss petting a sweet pony that we'll just call Elmer....
Kiss just squealed with delight as Elmer was nuzzling and licking her hand!
I hope that there's no such thing as the Pony Flu! Or worse, the Zombie Pony Flu (poor MammaFox)!
THIS JUST IN!!!!! Miss N wasn't the only one snapping pics of these two adorable babies, however. A photographer for the local student newspaper was also on the scene! We're hoping that they make it to the printing press!!
We'll keep you posted.

PappaBear's First Post!
There are a lot of things going amok in little Kiss and Cookie's worlds right now.
First, Kiss and Cookie are, sadly, sick! If you remember, they got their first "cold" the first week of April (staff photo, below).
They recovered like little champs and without too much ado (aside from their Humidifying Dragon).
Now, they're sick AGAIN! Unfortunately, they're both suffering through their first eye, ear, and snout infections. Both are also on their first course of antibiotics, which includes a secondary eye drops and, worse, eye ointment!
Eye drops I get, but ointment for infants...really? Someone who didn't have (or like) kids (or maybe their parents) must have come up with that one. Otherwise, the eye drop vehicle was still on patent...
On the plus side, Kiss is reasponding really well and appears to be over her first ear infection (15 months without an ear infection isn't too shabby, thank you very much)! She seems to have regained about 95% of her craziness back and she is happily puttering (nearly running) about the house....

Cookie is still on the mend, however. His laid-back and easy going ways kept us from realizing that his ears were also infested with the baby plague. We were treating his peepers (see below), but he was delayed in exhibiting signs of a more generalized infection, so we held off in (false) hopes that he would get through it on his own...

Of course he looks terribly sick in this photo now that I'm looking at it/him in retrospect. I think he was just really sleepy there...he is in his crib after all. Live and learn....
Kiss was prescribed Amoxicillin, whereas Cookie was prescribed Cefdinir. Both are β-lactam antibiotics, but there are some pretty big differences between them. I'm not sure if Cookie is responding as well as Kiss did. I'm keeping my eyes and ears on them both, but am currently hawking over the Cookie. It's 9 PM and I can hear him coughing still...poor thing.
The second big upset is that Mamma bear has left the den. She won't be back for a couple of days. Even though they're sick, I can tell that they're also missing her (me too). Here's a picture of MamaBear (looking more like MamaFox!) struggling to contain the precocious Kiss....

It's not all bad news, however.
Even an ear infection isn't slowing Cookie down and he's still "a mess" as they say in Texas. He is showing some real interest in walking. Today he showed us that he's been working on his ballance while we weren't looking. He started pushing the ottoman around in a very serious way. Today is the first time that I've seen him doing it in a prolonged fashion with the clear intent of using it as a mobility aid!
As you can see, Kiss had to get in on the act as well...
I'm really very excited for him! He was very proud of himself (and I'm proud of him, too!).

Pox and Ear Infections
Rains it pours! June was suppose to be a time to regroup, to relax, to chill out, but instead it has been a time of pox, and first ear infections and new managers and new districts and summer colds and general chaos. Oh well, I guess if all this craziness weren't going on I might wonder if I were still alive!
So on Sunday both the babies and Pixie came down with something. Pixie had the Pox! it started with her looking like she had hives and by the evening she looked not like a Dachsie but a Sharpei!

I took her to the vet on Monday, by the time we arrived the Pox had disappeared. We went home, viola! the pox were back. 10 minutes later we are back at the vet...and the pox disappeared!!! FRUSTRATION! but the good news is that they have not reappeared since! Yippee

Happy 35th B-day to ME!

It happens every year - if you're lucky! and since the alternative isn't all that attractive I have decided to embrace birthdays with open arms. This year passed by rather quietly without any fanfare or hoopla, however I did stock up on some rather rad loot! Thanks everyone for your well wishes and super fun gifts!

Aunties and Cousins and "Firsts"". SO MUCH FUN!
My sister and her two girls (ages 8 and 5) came to visit over Memorial Day weekend. We had so much fun and truly appreciated the time and effort it took for them to travel to fabulous College Station, Texas. It ALWAYS rains when my sister visits and this time was no exception, but it did manage to wait until we went to the "Lagoon" pool(a first for Kiss and Cookie) so at least we were already wet. Take a read and learn all about the exciting time we had and all the new adventures had by Kiss and Cookie.
Auntie arrives and is amazed by the great big babies!
The girls were really excited to play with Pixie and Bratwurst (and the babies, of course). The dogs LOVED the attention and were a bit sad to see them go (esp. Bratwurst....Pix can get a little overwhelmed!)
Adventures abounded during their trip with a mandatory Chuck E Cheese visit. It was a first for the babies and the first this decade for me. All in all it was actually rather fun, although it would have been better if they served beer (everything is better with beer!)Say "Hi!" to Chuck
Auntie and Cookie:
Cookie dancey danced to the groovin' tunes,
Auntie grooved with him!

Watch out world! This is a champion Skee Baller in the making.
With so many adventures we needed to take some well deserved R&R...at the nail salon! Here we got to swap firsts - this was a FIRST PEDICURE for the girls! It was a lot of fun to watch them and to see the excitement over such pretty toes. Now this is an activity that I can really get behind! (Kiss and Cookie didn't get to participate this time...soon enough!)Getting Pretty Toes!
We also had time for lots of play....it was a joy to see the cousins getting to know one another. Wish we were closer.....
On the morning of their departure Miss R. serenaded the babies over breakfast
Check out it out "Live"!
Check out it out "Live"!So much fun! First haircuts (see previous blog), splashing at the splash pad (babies slept), getting rained out at the pool, first pedicures, first Chuck E Cheese...wow! We sure were sad to see you go, but will see you in July for more fun and maybe even a few more "firsts".

Hugs and Kisses to Auntie A. and the girls! We miss you already!

First Hair Cuts
My Sister, the ultimate "Stylist to the Twins", came to visit and, among many other fun adventures, gave the babies their VERY FIRST hair cuts. They both did pretty well...considering! and my Sister is nothing short of amazing when it comes to trimming a squirming babies hair with very sharp and pointed scissors. I am too chicken to even trim their nails (to date have never done it!!). Both haircuts turned out great...and they now look so grownup.

Bye, Bye Super Nanny....

As they say, " the show must go on" and we are very thrilled to welcome Super Nanny 2.o into our hearts and lives.
We look forward to more giggles and thrills!
